Course Description

The PTE course will cover all the integrated skills needed in the test and there will be ample opportunity to experience all the types of tasks used in the test. PTE Academic uses a range of integrated skills to test how well a learner can use English for written or spoken communication and there are twenty different item types featured in the test. The language skills are not taught in isolation as there will be times when two skills are being tested in the same question e.g. reading & writing during the reading exam, reading and speaking during the speaking exam and listening and writing during the listening exam . The teaching throughout the course will therefore reflect this.

The course will not only ensure thorough knowledge of the exam format but will cover a wide range of Academic English Input and act as a good basis for anyone wanting to enter higher education with English as their medium.

The Test

The Pearson Test of English is widely accepted by organizations and recognized by over 95% of universities and colleges in the UK, including the UK Border Agency for Tier 4 (student visa) applications when students are required to demonstrate English language competency at a minimum of CEF level B1 or B2. It is also accepted for Tier 2 applications.

The PTE Academic test can be booked at short notice; online 48 hours in advance or by phone just 24 hours in advance. Results are typically returned within 5 working days. ELC London: Hampstead School of English offers courses throughout the year to prepare students for this test.  We can help students register for the test which is held at another location.
