Exam course information

ELC London Hampstead School of English offers a wide range of tests, examinations and exam preparation courses.

We are an examination and preparation centre for the University of Cambridge FCE & CAE exams as well as the PTE and TOEIC exams.

In addition, we prepare students for Cambridge CPE & BEC, as well as TOEFL and IELTS.  If you are not sure which exam would be the correct one for you, please let us know and we will be happy to advise you.

For students requiring certificates for visa purposes, we offer preparation for many of the exams that are approved tests under UKBA regulations.  More about SELT and PTE here.

Preparation courses & exams

Cambridge Exams - FCE, CAE & CPE

FCE, CAE & CPE preparation courses:

The Cambridge Exam classes prepare you thoroughly for every aspect of the exam. During the course you will work on language development and exam strategy for all five parts of the exam:

• Speaking
• Listening
• Reading
• Writing
• Use of English/English in Use

Students take a mock exam before starting the course so that recommendations can be made about the exam level and number of hours required for study. More about our Cambridge exam courses.

Exam registration:

• We are a Test Centre for FCE and CAE exams and we also register students for the CPE and PET exams

Cambridge Exams - BEC

BEC preparation courses & exams:

• Start any Monday (except bank holidays)
• Study 15 hours of BEC preparation only or combine with an additional 5, 10 or 15 hours per week of General English
• Offered only as a Premium Course with maximum 8 students per class

BEC is the Cambridge exam for Business. We prepare students for success in the exam and register exam participants at a London exam Centre.

IELTS

IELTS preparation courses:

• Start any Monday (except bank holidays)
• Study 15 hours of IELTS preparation only or combine with an additional 5, 10 or 15 hours per week of General English

Classes combine input and practice with regular tests to practise each skill. Hampstead School of English offers training for the Academic Module, which consists of papers in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.  More about our IELTS courses.

Exam registration:

• Registration as least 6 weeks in advance is advised; even further in advance for the summer months
• We assist students with enrolling for the exam, which is held at a centre close to the school 

TOEFL

TOEFL preparation courses:

• Start any Monday (except bank holidays)
• Study 15 hours of TOEFL preparation only or combine with an additional 5, 10 or 15 hours per week of General English

This course prepares you for the iBT (Internet Based Test) and also provides general training in study skills. In class you will concentrate on practice tests and TOEFL test-taking techniques. There is also a focus on American English to make sure you are prepared for the different accents and vocabulary you will experience in the TOEFL test.  More about our TOEFL courses.

Exam registration: 

• Students enrol directly online through Toefl.org.

TOEIC

TOEIC preparation courses:

• Start any Monday (except bank holidays)
• Study 15 hours of IELTS preparation only or combine with an additional 5, 10 or 15 hours per week of General English
• Offered only as a Premium Course with maximum 8 students per class 

In class you will concentrate on practice tests and TOEIC test-taking techniques for the reading and speaking parts of the exam. There is also a focus on American English to make sure you are prepared for the different accents and vocabulary you will experience in the TOEIC test.  Additional assistance can be provided upon request for students taking the Speaking and Writing components of the TOEIC test.  More about our TOEIC courses.

PTE - Pearson Test of English Academic

Exams:

• We offer PTE - Pearson Test of English Academic preparation courses for students who need to prove their English proficiency for visa purposes
